Johnson, Ph.D. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mypronouns.org\/how\">she\/her<\/a>) is an Assistant Professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/academics\/collegesanddepartments\/psychological-science\/academic-programs\">Psychological Science<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsu.edu\/\">Ball State University<\/a>. Dr. Johnson received her Ph.D. in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/ed\/graduate\/specialize\/clinical\">clinical psychology<\/a> with a concentration in <a href=\"https:\/\/psychology.ua.edu\/graduate-studies\/clinical-psychology\/psychology-law-concentration\/\">Psychology &amp; Law<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/psychology.ua.edu\/graduate-studies\/clinical-psychology\/\">University of Alabama<\/a>. She completed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/education-career\/grad\/internship\">APA-accredited predoctoral internship<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/detroit-health-care\/work-with-us\/internships-and-fellowships\/psychology-training\/\">John D. Dingell VA Medical Center<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/education-career\/grad\/post-fellow\">APA-accredited postdoctoral clinical psychology fellowship<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.va.gov\/palo-alto-health-care\/work-with-us\/internships-and-fellowships\/psychology-training-program\/#clinical-psychology-postdoctor\">VA Palo Alto Health Care System<\/a>. She received her B.S. in Psychology and minor in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Mississippi State University. Laughlin is interested in personality, specifically psychopathy and narcissism, and deviant behaviors and deviant sexual behaviors. She received her B.A. in Criminology and Psychology (w\/High Distinction) from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. Broadly, Alexandria&#8217;s research interests focus on externalizing behaviors, such as antisocial behavior, aggression, and psychopathic traits, with particular attention to how gender socialization and belief systems influence these outcomes. While at Ball State, Kimberly double majored in Psychological Science and Criminal Justice &amp; Criminology, minored in Women&#8217;s and Gender Studies, and was in the Honors College. Her Senior Honor&#8217;s Thesis focused on public perception of solitary confinement under the supervision of Dr. Johnson. Her research interests lie primarily in the parenting styles, traumatic experiences, empathy levels, risk-taking and aggressive behaviors in children and adolescents. She received her B.S. in Psychological Sciences and minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Purdue University. Deemah is interested in studying childhood trauma, empathy, personality, and externalizing behavior. She is especially interested in how environmental and cultural influences shape externalizing behavior, and how personality and resiliency play a role in differentiating between those who do and do not engage in violence, despite sharing similar environments. With a particular focus on specific child-rearing environments, such as those characterized by poverty, parent-child relationships, intergenerational trauma, and early exposure to trauma, Mattea seeks to understand how these factors influence and potentially modify the quality of life and resilience among young individuals.
