The BSU Music & Society Digital Archive is a collaborative, curated, and evolving digital platform that showcases student work in the creative arts. Designed, developed, and maintained by Dr. Galit Gertsenzon, assistant teaching professor at the BSU Honors College, and her students from diverse fields of study within Ball State University. The archive serves as both a learning tool and a growing collection of interdisciplinary undergraduate scholarship.
This digital resource features a wide range of student-created works emerging from coursework and performances at Ball State University. The collection includes original musical compositions, visual artworks and imagery, documentary films, sound and concert recordings, and written essays that explore the intersections of music, culture, history, and society.

Who we are
Galit Gertsenzon
Dr. Galit Gertsenzon is an assistant teaching professor of honors at Ball State University. A classically trained pianist and scholar of musical arts, Dr. Gertsenzon is an advocate for music and musicians of the Holocaust. For over two decades, Dr. Gertsenzon has studied music from the cultural, political, and social aspects of those who make it, and her research continues to examine the compositions, performances, and musicians of World War II and the Holocaust. Her ethnomusicological insights and applications are featured in the peer-reviewed literatures of music, Judaic studies, and higher education. She is a sought-after performer, lecturer, and adjudicator in her field. Named the recipient of the Vander Hill Distinguished Honors Educator Award in 2018 and 2024, Galit’s teaching is acknowledged as innovative and integrative. Through music, socio-political science, and human geography, Dr. Gertsenzon teaches the interconnectedness of people and places, past and present. Her pedagogical approaches stimulate the growth of both students and subject matter. Dr. Gertsenzon enjoys mentoring students and collaborating with scholars and musicians from all walks of life. Among her professional affiliations are memberships with the National Collegiate Honors Council, the Association for Judaic Studies, the American Musicological Society, and the Music Teacher National Association.
