Kelsey Dunn (she/her) is a senior at Ball State University, majoring in Psychology with minors in the Psychology of Human Development and Theatre. After graduating in December, Kelsey will pursue a Master’s in Social Work to become a child and adolescent therapist, where she will be able to demonstrate her passion for working with youth and families who face mental health challenges or who have experienced trauma. As an intern tutor-therapist at Englishton Park Summer Camp, she administered learned behavior modification techniques and crisis interventions to assist youth suffering from severe mental disorders. Currently, Kelsey is a Bachelor-Level Intern with Aspire Indiana Health’s Youth and Family school-based team, collaborating with a team of professionals to assess and treat youth and their families. Additionally, Kelsey holds a Teaching Assistant position for Professor Kim Taylor’s Introduction to Psychology course, where she leads weekly study sessions. Kelsey is also the President of Ball State’s chapter of Active Minds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health, especially among young adults.
In her first semester as a research assistant for the P2 Lab, Kelsey will be coding data in for research being conducted in collaboration with the Youth Opportunity Center. Kelsey is looking forward to gaining research experience and expanding her knowledge of youth who experience mental health challenges. Her research interests include trauma-informed care and youth with externalizing disorders.
In her spare time, Kelsey loves writing music, singing, doing yoga, dancing, and looking at pictures of cute babies and animals. Kelsey is also the student representative of the Ping-Pong Club and a member of Sedoctave, a competitive, co-ed Acapella group on Ball State’s campus.
